Hello, I’m Jim Miller. My wife, Dottie, and I have been involved in the gourmet food industry for years, but in 2010, things took a surprising and thrilling detour into the world of frozen wine slush mixes and cocktail slush drinks. My wife, Dottie and I own Jim Miller Gourmet, the parent company that manufactures Vino Slush Mix and supports wineries, vineyards, and specialty retailers across the country. Our roster of products include our Wine and Cocktail Slushie Mix, Bourbon Slush Mix, Mulling Spices and Bread Dipping Mixes, all designed to deliver easy-to-make gourmet products with strong profit potential.
During a vacation, I happened to find a wine slush mix at a farmer’s market, a place where artisan food products and specialty beverages shine. The idea was easy: blend it with any wine and water, freeze it or blend it, and have an amazing frozen wine slushie. One sip, and I was addicted. I knew in that moment I had to take this concept to my company and turn it into a commercially successful wine slush mix. I was selling chip dip mixes at the time, but I couldn’t help but think to include this exciting product in my growing gourmet product line, so I embarked on making my wine slushie mix from scratch.
What had looked easy initially became months of nonstop trial and error in developing a high-quality wine slush recipe. Three months of testing, adjusting, and perfecting the formula brought tons of failed batches, hundreds of hours, and more money than I wish to acknowledge. I quit. Twice. But something drew me back to creating the perfect frozen wine mix that would appeal to both wine lovers and casual drinkers.
Then, at last, I got it right. The ideal wine slush recipe that delivers smooth texture, balanced flavor, and simple preparation for home use or commercial environments. And the best part is, it sold like crazy.
What started as a side product quickly grew into something much bigger within the wine industry and specialty food market. Today, Vino Slush has been sold in over 450 wineries across the country, along with boutiques, gift shops, liquor stores, and specialty retailers that value unique frozen drink products. We’ve also built a network of passionate dealers who introduce Vino Slush to customers at festivals, craft shows, home shows, and farmers’ markets nationwide, creating strong brand recognition and repeat sales
Demand continues to increase for our wine slush mix products, and we now produce hundreds of cases at a time just to keep pace. Some customers buy a case or two, while others purchase pallets of 48 cases at a time for large-scale retail sales and event-based businesses. One thing never changes: once people try it, they love it, making Vino Slush a highly repeatable, sample-driven product.
We’ve added products to our line over the years beyond our signature frozen wine slush mix to better serve wineries, retailers, and festival vendors looking for easy add-on products. We now carry:
